Get the sand out first
Sand is abrasive, and wet sand is harder to shift. Give carpets a thorough vacuum in the days before your clean, especially near entries and balcony doors, so the hot water extraction can focus on dirt and stains rather than grit. Your cleaner pre-treats walkways and other high-traffic areas before the main clean begins.
Carpets at bond time

Drying in older buildings
Some art deco and post-war apartments can be short on airflow, so drying may take longer. Open windows and balcony doors where you can, run a fan, and keep foot traffic and furniture off damp carpet until your cleaner's care guidance says it's ready.
